In April 2022, the Youth and Family Office (Amt für Jugend und Familie) of the City of Mainz commissioned Akademisches Bildungs-Center to qualify childminders (Kindertagespflegepersonen) – “Tagesmütter” and “Tagesväter” – in a compact course.
The special feature was the shorter course length: the compact qualification was intended to help Ukrainian refugee families with their childcare needs. The Ministry of Education of Rheinland-Pfalz co-financed the programme. “Making it possible to combine family and work is very important to us,” said the managing director of ABC at the time.
