A1
Elementary I

The participants have little or no previous knowledge of the German language. You will learn to inquire about simple information orally and in writing and to describe processes. You will expand your knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary.

Course content:
 

In elementary level I, the participants get to know the basic vocabulary and basic grammar. You will learn to inquire about simple information orally and in writing. The following language skills are practiced, among others:
 

  • ask the way

  • Describe ways

  • Ask for and give information

  • Discussions about home and household

  • Descriptions of people and characters

  • Define the shape, size and color of things


The students learn to be able to say in everyday life what they like or don't want.

At the end of Basic Level I, the participants should be able to speak and understand simple sentences.

A2
Basic level II

The participants have previous knowledge of the German language and learn to communicate appropriately in familiar everyday situations, to read and understand simple texts.

Course content:
 

In elementary level II, the participants learn to extract information from simple texts and to provide simple information. You should learn to express yourself a little more precisely and therefore you will start to use subordinate clauses. You will practice dialogues yourself, write short texts and practice listening comprehension so that you get used to understanding and using the German language more and more. Each lesson begins with a double-sided introduction that leads into the

Introduces the topic and grammar of the lesson. This is followed by double pages on reading, listening, speaking and writing.

The students have a basic knowledge of the German language, which of course will be deepened. Using modern learning methods, speaking in everyday situations, written expression and listening comprehension are practiced. The class has a strong communicative approach.

 

When the students attend elementary level III, they have already learned a lot about the German language. You can already talk coherently about simple topics such as "shopping", "family", "traveling" and "work" and express them in writing.

 

In this course level you will learn to tell what you have experienced, what you want and you will have simple discussions with your classmates.

 

For this it is important that they can justify and represent their opinions. Of course, grammar is also learned at this level.

 

After completing Elementary III, students should be able to participate in simple discussions and understand simple texts and newspaper articles. Elementary grammar is repeated and deepened, and students learn to have conversations about interesting topics

B1  Elementary III

B2
Intermediate I

The participants have acquired the basics of the German language and practice reading, writing and verbally discussing complex topics.

Course content:
 

Intermediate level I is very much concerned with the repetition of the grammar that was learned in the basic level and it is practiced to use this in more complex contexts. In addition, students are taught the learning techniques that are intended to help solve problems that arise when learning the German language. Since the pupils can now communicate fluently in the middle school, the topics in the class are also more abstract. Personal and formal letters are written, pictures are described, assumptions are made and the advantages and disadvantages of various issues are discussed. It is now expected that students will do a large part of the speaking in class and regularly write texts in which they express their opinion on a particular topic.

C1
Intermediate II

The students already have a good command of the German language and learn to express themselves clearly orally and in writing on a variety of topics and to understand most of the texts well.

Course content:
 

The tasks that students have to work on in Intermediate Level II are demanding. Long, complex texts from the fields of literature, science, research and psychology are read and the students are now so advanced that they can even read what is between the lines. This means that they are already able to interpret texts and exchange ideas with other students. Discussions are held in the classroom, counseling sessions are held and presentations are given. Students have to regularly produce texts and listen to CD recordings in order to improve their German language skills.

The teaching of vocabulary, which is very important for official life in Germany, plays a central role in intermediate level II.

C1
Telc German University

The students already have a good command of the German language and learn to express themselves clearly orally and in writing on a variety of topics and to understand most of the texts well.

The course is geared towards the acquisition of sufficient German language skills and prepares students specifically for the telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule exam.

 

The Akademisches Bildungs-Center eV has been campaigning for diversity, solidarity and humanity towards different cultural identities as well as for the acceptance of diversity since 1997. In order to achieve social and professional participation, we implement language courses, integration courses (also with childcare), tutoring courses, Telc exams, courses for professional measures and social projects that support migrants, refugees and other target groups in achieving social and professional participation.

Preparatory German courses

Participants who already have a good command of the German language have the opportunity to join the eight-week course, which ends with the telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule exam. Participants with a language level in the elementary or intermediate level start at a level that is suitable for them.

Course duration and weekly hours:

8-week intensive language course (approx. 20 hours per week)

including exam, tutorial, communication training

 

The focus of the C1 course is on all skills in an academic context. Reading comprehension is trained with the help of various scientific, social, socio-cultural and political topics. Targeted training of listening comprehension helps to follow scientific lectures and to take notes. Writing is about different types of text (descriptions, comparisons, comments, statements, summaries, etc.) as well as conveying the necessary means of speaking. When speaking, the focus is on target-oriented formulations and linguistic action strategies.

 

In addition, the participants learn to learn all parts of a telc exam and are taught exam-relevant vocabulary and the corresponding structures. In-depth examination strategy training with many important tips, numerous examination tasks and a final model test under examination conditions are also part of the program.
